New Jersey Passes New Paid Sick Leave Law

Tuesday, May 29, 2018

New Jersey has passed a statewide paid sick leave law which will preempt all local sick leave ordinances. All employers in New Jersey must now provide paid sick leave to their employees, regardless of size. Employers must retain records documenting hours worked by employees and sick leave taken for five years. Employers must post a state-issued notice of employee rights. Employers must provide each employee a written copy of the notification. The new law is effective in October 29, 2018.  The new law can be found here:  http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2018/Bills/A2000/1827_R1.PDF
