The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States signed a national Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which is designed to further strengthen their collaborative efforts to provide immigrant, migrant and otherwise vulnerable Mexican workers and their employers with guidance and information and access to education about their rights and responsibilities under the laws enforced by the EEOC.

This national MOU exemplifies the overall intent of the EEOC and the Mexican Embassy to continue the efforts to assist the Mexican community.  Under the national framework of the MOU, the two entities will cooperate to provide outreach and training, as well as assist with enforcement efforts as needed.

The MOU focuses on three ways of reaching the goal training and education, outreach and communication, and promotion of a dialogue.  The educational goals will be met through the launch of an educational program aimed at making Mexican nationals aware of applicable workplace rights and responsibilities.  Outreach will be conducted through informational forums and dissemination of compliance and educational materials.  The participants from the U.S. and Mexico will share information on U.S. equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.

An implementation team made up of representatives of each country intends to meet to develop a plan of action, to mutually determine working procedures, and to identify the roles and intended responsibilities of the Participants.
