Maryland Passes Paid Sick and Safe Leave Law

On January 12, 2018, the Maryland House and Senate overrode the veto of the Governor of H.B. 1 that requires employers with 15 or more employees to provide earned sick and safe leave paid at the same wage rate as the employee normally earns. The legislation becomes law in 30 days unless the General Assembly acts to delay its implementation.
