USCIS Publishes Updated Handbook for Employers for Completing Form I-9

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services published an updated M-274, Handbook for Employers: Guidance for Completing Form I-9. The Handbook for Employers (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/m-274.pdf) provides employers with detailed guidance for completing Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. This version which was published on January 22, 2017, replaces the previous version which was published on April 30, 2013. The new handbook reflects revisions to Form I-9, which was revised on November 14, 2016.

All employers must complete and retain Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, for every person they hire for employment on or after November 6, 1986, in the U.S. as long as the person works for pay or other type of payment.
